Thames Valley Cultural Forum

The Thames Valley Cultural Forum is a formal sub group of ACTVaR. Its membership is made up of Chief Officers and lead elected Members for culture of all 18 local authorities in the Thames Valley, the DCMS GOSE officer and the South East England Regional Cultural Consortium Thames Valley representative(s).

S.E.England Regional Cultural Consortium

The primary purpose of the Forum is to maximise the contribution of leisure, cultural and community services to the social, environmental and economic well being of the Thames Valley region. It does this through the following:

• To assist and influence the provision and development of leisure, culture and community services opportunities in the Thames Valley region by responding to existing and emerging national, regional and local strategies
• To support proactively the objectives of ACTVaR and seek to maximise the contribution which leisure, culture and community services can make to its work programme
• To provide a mechanism for developing and sharing good practice and experience
• To promote and influence leisure, culture and community services and the Thames Valley region in South East England
• To work in partnership with other leisure, culture and community organisations within or serving the Thames Valley region
• To promote equity in all aspects of the Forum's activities

Recent activities have included the following;

• An audit of Thames Valley cultural facilities
• Common themes and issues from Local Cultural Strategies in the Thames Valley
• Oxford Capital of Culture bid contribution
• Thames Valley cultural impact on and in the SE England government region
• Thames Valley applications of PPG 17 - Planning for Open Space, Sport and Recreation
